The Time Has Come...it's time to Get Your God On !!

Pay Attention ...

"...it seems like too much Love is never enough...you'd better seek out another road because this one has ended abrupt..." ("Say Hello to Heaven," by Temple of the Dog)

There comes a time in all of our lives where we have to do things that we do not want to do. There are a lot of us who have lost a whole lot in our lives, too much to list here and sometimes, those losses are immeasurable and more than that, irreversible. However, that is not what I wanted to tell you all about today. No, today was different. In fact, daily I am reminded that sometimes we have to realize our Selves through other people...yes, including me.

I was blessed today by a person who I have known since long before the harshness that is Life happens upon any one of us. While I will not go on about telling anyone about this person's own harshness, I will go on to tell you that at this point she has become the one person with whom I can truly identify with a person being able to "get their God on," even though the thing that happened has affected her own life in a very marked way.  It is not only because of her dedication that I know is there, but more, because there needs to be more people just like her on the planet, and aren't I a lucky chick...I get the work with these kinds of people everyday of my life. I get to be with Hawaiians at heart, with people whose losses are huge and life changing and whose goodness and light are as big and huge as their losses are.

These are the people with whom I hold the very closest of counsel with - the ones who have lost the most, and those who have lost the most in my own inner circle have already been witness in their own lives to the idea that once we give to others the goodness that is truly our very Selves, beautiful things begin to happen. While these beautiful things begin to happen it does not mean that the loss is the thing forgotten. Quite the opposite, in fact, because the loss becomes the catalyst for the healing that needs to take place, and more than that, the loss becomes, at that point, part of the reason for the beauty. This does not in any way take from the loss, because the loss is always going to be what it was meant to be. Sometimes, though, the beauty that is borne of the tragedy ...well, that's the most beautiful thing in the world to me, because it means that those people who have suffered their own tragedies have figured out the meaning of  "gettin' your God on."

Gettin' Your God On...

"...This is how we do it ! All hands are in the air, and wave them from here to there  If you're an O.G. mack or a wanna-be player  You see the hood's been good to me  Ever since I was a lower-case G..."
(Montell Jordan's "This is how we do it...")

Tragedy tends to make us do things that we might not otherwise, and tragedy makes us look into our own selves and makes us question God and get very, very, very luxuriantly angry with God, and not just any angry, but that certain type of angry that is velvety soft and hard like diamonds all at once. It is the kind of angry that makes us cry out in the middle of the night, wanting to know what it was that was so horrid that we did that would make God want us to hurt as badly as we do.

Ya know...I wanna sit here and tell you that I have that answer, but I know that I can't. I cannot sit here and tell anyone that what they have gone through is going to go away because that is not the truth. I can, however, sit here and tell you all that there is a way to channel that hurt and that anguish, that pain and even the memory that anyone of us has of those things that broke our very Souls in two. That one thing is called Gettin' Your God On.

The way that you Get Your God On is simple - first, you take your pain and accept it, know it feel it and Be with it. Yes, Be with your pain, because that is where the truth is at, and in order to Get one's God On one must also be able to deal effectively with what has been presented to us. We have to make it through the pain anyway, so there is nothing better than being able to share it with other people after it has been transformed into the beautiful thing that will at least make it more tolerable.

"Gettin' Your God On means that the pain that we have and all the other things that break our hearts and hurt us to the core of us can be turned into something beautiful. Beauty is in art, is in song, is in words, is in giving, is in sharing and is the very core essence that is the Aloha in us all.

There are a few people who are reading this who know who they are, know who this was written about, and yes, there are more than only one person who this was written about. We can all take what we have and share it, and give it meaning and give it a new Truth, one that, while the pain is the thing that gives us the fuel to step out of our fears and give to other people what it is that they might be able to do something with, might be able to make it through one more day of their lives knowing for sure that in the pain, and in the loss, and in the heartbreaking moments that we all go through, that someone cares and wants us to care and wants to help us remember who we are and lead us back to that place where God lives within us.

This is what being part of the bigger Tribe is all about - the ability to Get Your God On, first in our own inner circle, and then what we do within our own circle is we give these people who we care so much about the thing that they need to make it out there in the big fat world and be all they can be, pain still there, but transformed and easier to manage because now there is this light that cannot be made less bright, this purpose that was borne of loss, of shame and of things that no one wants to go through. But we go through it all and in the end we find out that what we have gone through was not without good purpose.

SO, with that said, and written, and with that being my ultimate Truth - that I want us all to do a little bit of Gettin' all of our God On, I will leave you with the idea that while what we go through that causes us to want to Get our God On, the sweetness with it all is that we know that we are blessed and touched and prompted by the heavens to get out there in the wilderness that is our Life, that is our own 40 days and nights with the devil that wants to crush us...nope...not today, dude...not ever again, period..

Don't be scared...just get on out there and Get Your God On already...the world is waitin' !! If you don't know how to do that or cannot come up with a really cool way to Get Your God On...hit me up...I will help you figure it out.

Get on out there...hurry up, y'all...go on and Get Your God On !! The world is waiting!!

I LOVE YOU ALL !!
